How to Access Website

This webpage discusses various ways to access our website. What makes this topic somewhat problematic is the state of technology today. The procedure depends on
  • Whether you have a desktop or mobile device
  • Whether you have a Microsoft, Apple or Android device
  • The browser (the program you use to connect to the internet) that you are using (e.g., Safari, Firefox, Brave, Chrome)
  • The operating system (e.g., IOS) version

We will discuss various techniques: one of which should work for you. Each technique has pros and cons.

Before starting, be sure to have your username and password. These were sent to you in a "Welcome" email. If you do not have them, you may either:

In the sections below, an "icon" is the small square picture on your desktop. A "bookmark" is a saved website that you have asked your browser to remember for you.

Option 0 - Make Sure Default Browser is Safari

The default browser on iPhones is Safari. If you are not sure or are using a different browser, you might consider changing to Safari just for this exercise. The video below shows you how to do this. If you want to use another browser, you can switch back after setting up the homepage.

Configure Safari as Default Browser

Option 1 - Manual URL Entry - Pros: Will work every time. Cons: You will have to do this every time you go to the website.

Go to the browser that you use to connect to the internet and enter www.etccwebsite.com

Option 2 - Add Home Screen Icon - Pros: Easy one click access to the website. Cons: Technique may not work on all devices.

  1. Open the Safari app and go to the webpage you want to bookmark
  2. Tap the "Share" button (it looks like a square with an upward arrow) — usually at the bottom of the screen
  3. Scroll and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  4. Customize the name/icon if desired
  5. Tap "Add"

Option 3 - Install Home Screen Icon on iPhone - Pros: Easy one click access to the website. Cons: Technique may not work on all devices.
  1. Use phone camera to scan QR code
  2. Tap on little yellow prompt (be patient)
  3. Tap the "Square icon with up-arrow at the bottom of the screen"
  4. In menu that opens, scroll to "Add to Home Screen"
  5. Tap "Add to Home Screen"
  6. Watch upper right corner of screen, when see the word "Add", Tap "Add"
  7. ETCC Logo with mint green bars above and below will be somewhere on the Home Screen
  8. Drag ETCC Logo wherever you want

To use the App:

  1. Tap the App (ETCC Logo icon) on the Home Screen. App will Open
  2. To go to ETCC Website, Tap the Club Logo or the black Bar
  3. Note: You must Login to the Website if not already Logged in. Use your User Name & Password AND BE SURE to Check the Box to "Remember This Device". After selecting Remember This Device, you will not have to Login again 🙂

To share the App:
Have another member scan the QR Code when displayed on the device screen. The App will install on their device just like yours.

  1. Use camera to scan QR code,
  2. Tap on little yellow prompt
  3. Tap the prompts as they appear. Be patient.
  4. ETCC Logo with mint green bars above and below will be somewhere on the Home Screen.

Option 5 - Browser Bookmark - Pros: Should work for most users. Cons: May need to research for solution.

Every internet browser has the ability to remember a website by creating a bookmark. Here are the most popular solutions. If you cannot find a solution, suggest using Google or ChatGPT or Grok.

Create a Bookmark using Safari

Create a Bookmark using Chrome

Create a Bookmark using Firefox for IOS

Create a Bookmark using Firefox for Android

Create a Bookmark using Duck Duck Go

Create a Bookmark using Brave

Create a Bookmark using Edge

Option 6 - If none of the recommendations work - Pros: Should be able to provide a solution. Cons: May take some time. May incur an hourly rate 😄
